Kimberly Buffington

Kimberly Buffington

Farmer & Managing Partner

Creating abundance has been Kimberly’s focus for the past 10 years. After a life changing trip to Peru in 2007 Kimberly made the decision to leave the pastorate and move into the streets of Detroit to create abundance.  She started with food – and today over 300,000 boxes and bags of food have been distributed to families in southeastern Michigan. Through Planted and Eden Gives, a nonprofit focused on creating food security, Kimberly is creating abundance of food in the 48214 zip code.  Planted’s for profit business is creating jobs and accessible food for people living in 48214. Eden Gives adds another layer of food security through its weekly food distribution program. Pairing social enterprises with community development is proving to be a winning strategy in creating food secure communities. When Kimberly takes a break from growing food, she is known to frequent bookstores, enjoy traveling and spend time with her partner, her three grown children, their partners and granddaughter Wynnie.
