Products & Ingredients

What makes Planted Detroit salads different?

We grow our greens indoors using vertical farming, meaning no pesticides, no herbicides, and a longer shelf life—so your salads stay fresh longer.

Are your greens organic?

While we follow organic farming principles (no chemicals, just pure, clean growing!), we are not USDA-certified organic. But trust us, our greens are top-notch!

Do you offer vegan or gluten-free options?

Yes! Many of our salads are naturally vegan and gluten-free. Check the individual salad descriptions for details, or reach out if you have dietary restrictions.

How long do your salads stay fresh?

Thanks to our ultra-fresh harvesting, our salads can last up to 7 days in your fridge! Always check the best-by date and enjoy ASAP for peak flavor.

What’s the difference between greens and microgreens?

Greens form the base of your salad, while microgreens are tiny, nutrient-packed versions of herbs and veggies, offering bold flavor and 4–40x more nutrients than their mature counterparts.

Sustainability & Farming

What is vertical farming, and why does it matter?

Vertical farming is the future of fresh! We grow indoors in stacked layers, using 95% less water than traditional farms and reducing food miles for a true farm-to-fork experience.

How does Planted Detroit help the local community?

We’re all about giving back! We donate fresh produce to Food Rescue US Detroit, support local schools, and partner with nonprofits to fight food insecurity.

Do you compost or recycle food waste?

Yes! Our leftover greens and trimmings go to local urban farms, reducing waste and supporting sustainable food cycles.

What happens to extra salads that aren’t sold?

Nothing goes to waste! We donate fresh food to Detroit nonprofits and food rescue programs so more people can eat well.

How are your salads more sustainable than store-bought ones?

We use 95% less water, no pesticides, and we cut down on food miles by growing close to home. Less waste, more taste.
